Postdoc Position in Computational Systems Biology

Probabilistic Gene Network Modeling of Cellular Aging

A postdoc position is available to conduct quantitative modeling of cellular aging using probabilistic gene networks, a novel research direction funded Prof Hong Qin’s NSF CARERR award. Candidates should have an inter-disciplinary training background, strong quantitative and computational skills, and be proficient of either R, MATLAB, or Python. Strong verbal and written communication skills are expected.

Potential research topics include understanding lifespan extension effect of dietary restriction through mathematical modeling and analysis of various genome-scale data sets, understanding lifespan as a quantitative trait using gene networks, and develop new network/pathway analysis methods, and develop automatic image analysis algorithm for high throughput phenotyping of cells. This postdoc researcher will be located at the SimCenter, a Center for Excellence in Applied Computational Science and Engineering, and has access to state-of-the-art high-performance computing facility. This computational position is expected to collaborate with both computational and experimental biologists.
