Position Description:    

The College of Engineering is accepting applications for non-tenure track faculty positions for academic year 2017-18 at the rank of instructor or assistant professor effective August 15, 2017. All positions require teaching undergraduate courses related to Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. The minimum requirement for these positions is a Master’s degree in engineering and the successful applicant will be appointed as an instructor in the appropriate department. If the successful applicant has a Doctoral degree in engineering, the appointment will be as an assistant professor in the appropriate department.

Located in Mobile and near the Alabama Gulf coast with its beautiful white-sand beaches, the University of South Alabama is a public, doctoral-level institution enrolling more than 16,000 students. The College of Engineering is housed in Shelby Hall, a new 155,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art Engineering and Computing Sciences building that opened in 2012. The college has over 1900 students and offers BS and MS degrees in chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering. In addition, the College of Engineering offers a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) program in Systems Engineering. Mobile is the center of a growing, two-county, metropolitan area (~600,000 residents) with a diverse economy and outstanding opportunities for interaction with high technology industrial partners.

All non-tenure-track positions are renewed on an annual basis, subject to teaching and service performance and student enrollment needs.
