The Horae Gene Therapy Center of the University of Massachusetts Medical School invites applications for an non-tenure track Research Faculty Instructor position. The research project entails developing state-of-art molecular technologies, advanced bioinformatics pipelines and structural biology tools 1) to isolate and characterize large libraries of adeno-associated virus (AAV) variants from nature sources for novel vector development; 2) to interrogate genome-wide recombinant AAV (rAAV) integration events after in vivo gene transfer; 3) to create and validate next generation gene therapy vector quality control pipelines for rAAV genome population sequencing. Applicants should have a PhD in the biomedical sciences or an MD with post graduate scientific research training and at least 7 years of research experience in the areas of molecular and cellular biology, virology, genomics, viral gene therapy and bioinformatics. Applicants with strong skills and track records in DNA and cDNA library construction for next generation of whole genome sequencing, RNA Seq and small RNA Seq, extensive bioinformatics analyses of genomics and transcriptomics, viral gene therapy vector development, and in vivo gene transfer studies are preferred. Ability to work independently, coordinate and manage different internal and external projects and activities concurrently, as well as strong scientific writing, verbal and interpersonal skills are essential. Candidates should be well organized, hard-working and highly motivated to respond to the changes within the rapidly evolving field of gene therapy research.
