An outstanding opportunity to join one of America’s preeminent Universities, lead excellent faculty engaged in important teaching and research, and help address and solve the critical public health challenges of our time.

The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Public Health is seeking an effective leader with a strong scholarly record to chair its Division of Environmental Health Sciences. The Division currently consists of 12 faculty members whose research areas include cancer risk and prevention, health effects of exposures to air and water pollution, food safety, environmental neurotoxicology, environmental and human health risk assessment, and exposure modeling. With the initiation of the first four OSU Discovery Themes (Data Analytics, Infectious Diseases, Energy & Environment, and Food Production & Security www.discovery.osu.edu), the division is well positioned for continued growth. The Division is responsible for the environmental health science curricula leading to PhD, MS, MPH and BS degrees. The newly renovated Cunz Hall provides excellent office space and research laboratories.

The successful chair candidate will provide senior leadership and vision in the continued growth of environmental health sciences within the College of Public Health and other units at Ohio State, as well as efforts locally, nationally and internationally. This position requires academic credentials consistent with appointment as a tenured faculty member in the Division of Environmental Health Sciences, College of Public Health.

The candidate is expected to provide active leadership for the Division’s diverse and expanding research program, recruit and mentor faculty, direct program curricula for undergraduate and graduate students, collaborate in research initiatives with other investigators both within and outside of the College of Public Health, foster a climate of diversity and manage the division’s resources. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of effective administrative experience and have a strong and distinguished record of scholarly research, teaching, and mentoring.  Experience in community outreach, especially in multicultural settings, is desirable.
