HPC - Accelerate your Science to accelerate your Career

The Helmholtz Zentrum München is transforming the European landscape of bioengineering and biomedical discovery by establishing the Helmholtz Pioneer Campus (HPC). HPC is the new hub for technology and innovation at the Helmholtz Zentrum Munich (HMGU) welcoming the future generation of Nobel laureates in biology, medicine, chemistry-engineering, physics-mathematics-computation to execute their groundbreaking ideas and collaborate boldly – under one-roof, across disciplines. Pioneer-teams are unique in their organizational structure, scientific culture and supported by highly competitive installation- and running packages. HPC-scientists operate in actively managed international networks and in close proximity to academic, clinical and corporate partners. HPC will be headquartered in state-of-the-art research facilities at the Helmholtz Campus north of Munich, where a dedicated new building is under construction.

HPC now recruits exceptional, international talents for multiple

Helmholtz Pioneer Campus Team Leader positions (f/m)

The Mission
With new technologies enabling unprecedented discovery and breaking the barriers of traditional disciplines, HPC draws from areas such as Molecular-, Cellular-, Single-Cell-, Omics- and Synthetic Biology; Tissue-, Chemical- and Material Engineering; Imaging-, Biochip-, Microfluidics- and Nano-Technologies; Computational Modeling and Data-Sciences to accelerate new strategies that impact early diagnosis, personalized prevention and precision treatment of metabolic diseases. HPC aims to close the translational gap by (i) advancing (iPSC-derived) human-organoids to unravel disease-relevant mechanisms and new molecular targets; (ii) engineer new molecular probes & biosensors, design cellular circuits and imaging devices at the biomedical-engineering interface. (iii) HPC also addresses urgent needs in biomedical ‘big‘-data integration and analyses to advance personalized diagnostics and individualized therapies. (iv) HPC aims to transform academic/corporate partnerships and become a role model for 21st century biomedical research.

Your Profile
Outstanding individuals with major achievements in biomedical research, engineering/imaging, bio-computation or related fields and being passionate about pursuing challenging questions in a collaborative way, will be empowered to rapidly deliver globally competitive science. HPC thrives for a multi-disciplinary and highly dynamic research environment, without the eminent need to apply for funding and minimal administrative distractions. According to HPCs mission, appointments will be offered for 5 years (+2, depending on circumstances at the time of review). Your contribution will be an important driver for innovation in Munich, within the Helmholtz association and visibly connected to the global metabolism-, bioengineering-, computational- and stem cell- communities.

Your Application
Pls. submit a letter of interest, stating past accomplishments, a current CV and contact information of three references. Strong preference will be given to candidates delivering visionary proposals outlining their innovative, interdisciplinary and translational ambitions. Application closes November 5th 2017. Formal interviews and a recruitment-symposium are planned in Dec 2017 in Munich.
