The Faculty of Science and the Institute for Computational Science at the University of Zurich invite applications for a PhD in Data Science starting in summer/fall 2021.

Candidates are expected to carry out a vigorous research program under supervision of one of the participating faculty members. Candidates with an interest in applying data science and machine learning to solving natural science questions are especially encouraged to apply. The usual duration of the PhD program is 3 to 4 years. A Master’s degree (or equivalent) is required at the starting date of the appointment. Annual salaries are in the range of CHF 47,000-50,000. The scientific computing infrastructure at the University of Zurich is very strong and includes access to the Swiss Supercomputing Centre in Lugano. If you are not a native English speaker and have not received your degree from an institution where the only language of instruction is English, we require that you provide us with evidence of your proficiency in English (e.g., TOEFL, CEFR, IELTS, CAE).
