An Associate in Research position is available, starting mid-July 2019 in the Drea Lab at Duke University

Research Area: Behavioral and Chemical Ecology

The Drea Lab at Duke University is accepting applications for an Associate in Research to begin mid-July 2019. We are seeking candidates whose primary research interests include behavioral and chemical ecology and who have experience with the analysis of large or complex datasets. The associate will be expected to collaborate with existing lab members in analyzing the effects of antiandrogens on animal behavior and development, as well as on their associated chemical signals. The main duty will be to help finalize projects for publication. Additional duties, particularly for new or ongoing projects, will include laboratory management: preparing for, scheduling, and overseeing procedures; preparing collection vials; collecting, storing, and recording samples; preparing samples for analysis; performing behavioral bioassays; performing various laboratory analyses; managing records and data files; maintaining sufficient inventory of laboratory materials and supplies for performance of duties; and maintaining standard equipment.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a discipline appropriate to the biological sciences, as well as relevant research experience. Training will be available, but preference will be given to candidates who also have demonstrated skills in: 1) statistical analyses, 2) laboratory analyses, 3) oral and written communication, and 4) effective interaction with a diversity of colleagues and students. The position is for one year with renewal possible contingent on satisfactory performance.
