The Goldberg lab in the department of Evolutionary Anthropology is recruiting a postdoctoral scholar to join the lab on January 15, 2020. The candidate will develop and apply quantitative methods to study genetic data from multiple species in the context of demographic, archeological, paleontological, and environmental records. The associate is expected to prepare related manuscripts for publications and present results at annual conferences.

The postdoctoral scholar may work on a range of projects in evolutionary and human genetics, computational archeology, and human-environment interactions, including:

  • Methods to combine genetic and archeological data for inference

  • Theoretical modeling of sexual selection and polygenic traits

  • Computational modeling of population dynamics

  • Adaptation to malaria in the Americas

Other proposed research within the scope of lab interests is welcome.

The Goldberg lab combines theory and computational data analysis; interest in biological applications of programming, statistics, and/or mathematics is required. Candidates must have a PhD in biological anthropology, evolutionary biology, statistics, mathematics, or a related area by the time they start. Demonstrated ability to prepare and present scientific research in the form of peer-reviewed publications preferred. Initial appointment is for 1 year, with planned annual renewal.
