The Department of Global Development invites applications from qualified individuals for an Associate/Full Professor position with a start date of July 1, 2023, or as negotiated. The position will be based in Ithaca, NY. The responsibilities of this position are 50% research and 50% teaching. Specific responsibilities include producing high-quality research in the field of development economics or related fields, such as economic geography, feminist economics or political economy; graduate student supervision, including the ability to guide field research in low- and middle-income countries; teaching 2.5 courses per year across our graduate and undergraduate programs; securing external research grants or contracts; public outreach to help translate research into real world impact; and service to the academic community, the department, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the university.

The only required qualification is a PhD in economics or a closely related field.  Preferred qualifications include at least six years of post-PhD research experience, a strong record of externally funded, applied research in development economics and demonstrated excellence in teaching ability.

The successful candidate will embrace being based and teaching in a multi-disciplinary department and interested in establishing links with development economists based in the Charles Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, the Department of Economics, and elsewhere at Cornell.

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
