The Department of Radiology at UMass Chan Medical School seeks dynamic applicants for a full-time, non-tenured track position as an Anatomist/Medical Educator in the Division of Translational Anatomy. This position provides tremendous opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and professional development within and across disciplines. The successful candidate will join a team of anatomy educators whose primary responsibilities involve teaching the foundational anatomical disciplines in our integrated medical curriculum. At UMass Chan, anatomy is taught using a combination of human donor dissections, prosections, 3D models, virtual anatomy, and simulation technology. Anatomy teaching is highly integrated with diagnostic imaging, including hands-on ultrasound training.

Responsibilities will include teaching human donor dissection-based laboratory sessions, as well as small group, large group, and online sessions. The candidate will also contribute to curriculum development and creation of educational materials and experiences for a wide range of learners throughout various programs. Professional service (i.e., serving on department, school, or institutional committees) will also be expected.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate with strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills who has demonstrated success as an educator in a collaborative, team-based work environment. Applicants should have a record of scholarly productivity by dissemination of their work through peer-reviewed publications or presentations, and by involvement in regional and national level organizations.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in anatomy or a related field of study. A minimum of 2 years of experience in didactic and dissection-based teaching in the full regional spectrum of medical gross anatomy is required. Experience in teaching related disciplines in anatomical sciences (e.g., histology, embryology) is desirable, yet not required. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level of experience will be considered. UMass Chan Medical School faculty appointment will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Review of applications will be ongoing until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2025.
