The Biomaterials Theory Group led by Prof. Nadir Kaplan at Virginia Tech Department of Physics (Blacksburg, VA) invites applications for a postdoctoral or research associate position (commensurate with experience) in theoretical biophysics with a focus on Hard and Soft Matter Interfaces in Biomineralized Systems. We especially welcome applications from women, minorities, people with disabilities, and veterans. The start date is expected to be Spring 2020 and is negotiable. The appointment will be initially for one year and may be extended for an additional year subject to performance and availability of funding. Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate has expertise in developing theoretical and computational methods in geometry and elasticity, and/or fluid mechanics. Other requirements include the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a high degree of motivation and creativity. Individuals with a Ph.D. or equivalent in physics, chemistry, applied mathematics, materials science or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in effective collaboration with experimental labs is preferred.
