We invite applications for a Postdoc position (fixed term, salary level E 13 TV-L, 100%) in the new research group on Early Universe Cosmology of Prof. Dr. Julia Harz within the Theoretical High Energy Physics (THEP) Group at the University of Mainz. The research interests of the group lie in theoretical particle physics of the early Universe, in particular connected, but not limited to, dark matter physics, baryogenesis and neutrino physics. Our investigations tackle both phenomenology and the advancement of methods.
The appointment is initially for two years with the possibility of a one year extension. The earliest possible starting date is October 1st 2022. Applicants should have successfully completed a university degree and hold a PhD in theoretical physics and preferably have previous research experience in topics aligned to the research interests of the group.
With around 31000 students from over 120 nations, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) is one of the largest and most diverse universities in Germany. JGU enjoys global eminence as a research-driven university and won in Germany's competitive Excellence Strategy program the cluster of excellence PRISMA+ (Precision Physics, Fundamental Interactions and Structure of Matter). PRISMA+ hosts the Mainz Institute for Theoretical Physics (MITP) which provides unique opportunities for cross-disciplinary exchange between researchers from different fields of expertise in theoretical physics by holding a series of scientific programs and short topical workshops to attract leading international researchers.
The application should include a cover letter, a CV, list of publications and a research statement. In addition, the applicant should arrange at least three letters of recommendation.
All application documents (including the reference letters) should be submitted via Academic Jobs Online before July 20th 2022.
Later applications will be considered until the position is filled.
JGU is diverse and welcomes qualified applications from people with varied backgrounds. We aim to increase the proportion of underrepresented groups and therefore encourage researchers of these groups to apply. Besides, candidates with severe disabilities and appropriate qualifications will be given priority when equally qualified.
