"The Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU) at the University of Tokyo invites applications of female astronomers, mathematicians, and physicists to our newly established Chien-Shiung Wu Prize Postdoctoral Fellowship. With the approval of her son and granddaughter, the Fellowship is named in honor of Chien-Shiung Wu, whose groundbreaking experiment proved that parity symmetry is broken by the weak interaction. The recipients are selected by a faculty committee representing all areas of study at the Kavli IPMU.

Fellows have freedom in choosing their research direction within our broad areas of research in astronomy, mathematics, and physics. The fellowship appointment is for three years starting in fall 2022 with a generous research fund and an annual salary comparable to those of top international fellowships. Fellows are guaranteed the flexibility to work abroad for up to three months per year. In recognition of the challenges female scientists often face, we offer additional support including career mentorship, access to the on-campus childcare center, financial assistance to children’s tuitions at international schools, and spousal assistance such as job search. A support team is available to the fellows and their families to facilitate everyday living in Japan.

The mission of Kavli IPMU is to solve fundamental mysteries of the Universe from a synergistic perspective of astronomy, mathematics, and physics. English is the official language of the Kavli IPMU and more than half of its full-time scientific members come from outside of Japan. Details on our research programs can be found here [https://www.ipmu.jp/research-activities/research-program].

We encourage all candidates to apply by December 1, 2021. Applicants should submit curriculum vitae (with email address and citizenship), a statement of research interests, and a list of publications. Applicants should also ensure that at least three letters of reference are submitted on their behalf.
They should be uploaded at Application Form.
