The C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP) at Stony Brook University, ( ) seeks applications for a tenure track or tenured faculty position in theoretical physics. This appointment may be at the Assistant Professor or higher level, depending on experience. The YITP has special interest in candidates with demonstrated ability to contribute to theoretical physics, especially formal aspects of quantum field theory and/or string theory and their diverse applications, and with a strong commitment to teaching and graduate education.

Ongoing research fields at the YITP include quantum field theory, string theory, supergravity, particle and astroparticle theory, cosmology, condensed matter, statistical mechanics, and quantum information. YITP faculty are also members of the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University, and the YITP maintains close connections to the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics and to near-by Brookhaven National Laboratory.

The successful applicant will be expected to engage in independently funded research characterized by creativity and vision, and to participate in the teaching missions of the Institute and the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
