The Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology (EEOB, eeob.osu.edu) in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University (OSU; www.osu.edu) seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the general area of aquatic population/community ecology. We seek an individual who will complement existing strengths within OSU, EEOB, and the Aquatic Ecology Laboratory (AEL; www.ael.osu.edu) in aquatic population and community ecology. Individuals with research expertise in understanding how human-driven environmental change (e.g., climate change, nutrient pollution, emerging contaminants, invasive species) and other ecological processes influence the dynamics of aquatic food webs, particularly fish populations, are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have opportunities to participate in and contribute to a well-established partnership between OSU and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources-Division of Wildlife (ODNR; https://ohiodnr.gov), which seeks to understand the ecological mechanisms underlying the structure and function of fish populations and communities and their associated management in rivers and streams, Lake Erie, and inland reservoirs.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program and contribute to departmental instructional needs at the graduate and undergraduate level. They will also be expected to contribute to EEOB’s continued efforts to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion at institutional and disciplinary levels. As a campus with a continuously growing diverse student body, we encourage applications from women and under-represented minorities. This is one of three hires being sought in the department this year, with the other two in Freshwater Biology and Terrestrial Ecosystem Ecology.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in ecology or a related field and postdoctoral research experience. Strong candidates will show potential to develop a research program in aquatic population/community ecology and contribute to teaching and mentoring and demonstrate a commitment to enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
