Job Summary The College of Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) invites applications for a Postdoctoral position in the School of Physics and the Agile System Lab to work on the neurophysiological and neuromechanical mechanisms of agile flight control in insect models under the direction of Professor Simon Sponberg. As part of their employment, the postdoc will participate in a large multi-university team collaboration on agile perception involving neuroscientists, physics, applied mathematicians, and biologists. The postdoc will help with the execution and facilitation of this project. The position will be available beginning September 1, 2022 for {1} year, renewable for up to {3} years. Professor Simon Sponberg's research group is active in exploring the physical and physiological mechanisms underlying agile animal movement.

Required Qualifications A Ph.D. is required in a related field. Preferred Qualifications The candidate will have a background in experimental neuroscience, biomechanics, biophysics, or related disciplines. In addition, expertise in electrophysiology, especially fine wire electromyography, computational neuroscience, especially dimensional reduction and feature analysis, and flight biomechanics, especially of insects would facilitate project goals. The successful candidate will have some relevant experiences, being amenable to training in related topics, and be available to show both independent problem solving and the ability to work together in a collaborative multidisciplinary lab environment.
