The Particle Physics Division seeks candidates for a Research Associate (Postdoctoral position) in the Muon Department. The Research Associate’s portfolio will include constructing, commissioning and operating state-of the- art experimental instrumentation working at the Fermilab site in Illinois. The Muon Department is currently host to two Experiments: the Muon g-2 Experiment and the Mu2e Experiment. The Muon Department seeks to create a welcoming environment where all members are encouraged to work towards our common scientific goals and everyone’s contributions are equally valued. Contributions vary extensively across technical skill sets and human experiences. The current opening is to play a leading role in commissioning the Mu2e Experiment. Analysis opportunities on Mu2e or Muon g-2 will be available during the term of this position. As experiment operations are long-term and at times, high-pressure, we strongly encourage a healthy work-life balance that helps enable a long-term commitment without burning out on short-term tasks

You will:

•Solve problems that require creative solutions using available resources

•Construct and integrate state-of-the-art instrumentation with an international team of scientists, engineers, and technicians including students at all levels

•Play a leading role in analyzing scientific data

•Participate in research and development of future scientific instrumentation for future experiments

•Abide by and be responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position

•Respect, understand and value individual differences that embody the principles of diversity.

We Are Looking For:

•Ph.D. in Physics with experience in analysis, experimental instrumentation, and operations

•Demonstrated ability to overcome adversity, inside or outside a laboratory environment

•Ability to work with and support a diverse base of scientific users
