The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in extragalactic astronomy. A successful candidate will become an active participant in the research activities of the astrophysics and cosmology group and the research group of Rachel Bezanson. Specific duties would include assisting with the preparation, reduction, and analysis of the planned UNCOVER JWST Cycle 1 program (https://www.stsci.edu/jwst/science-execution/program-information.html?id=2561). Expertise in space and/or ground-based imaging and/or spectroscopic reduction and analysis is especially appreciated. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated organizational and project management skills. This position will include up to 50% time for the postdoctoral associate to conduct complementary, independent research projects and contribute to the scientific and educational activities in the department. The initial appointment is for two years, with an additional year following a performance review.

The postdoctoral fellow would join the Pittsburgh Particle physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology Center (PITT PACC), a vibrant community of faculty, postdocs, and students that conduct theoretical, experimental, and observational research in particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology. All members have the opportunity to organize PITT PACC academic activities including hosting short- and long-term visitors and holding PITT PACC workshops and/or conferences of their own design.

Interested candidates should upload a cover letter, CV, research statement, and have at least 3 reference letters sent to Academic Jobs Online by 10 January 2022 for full consideration, though we may continue to consider applications received after this date.
