Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Theoretical Particle Physics (working on QCD and collider phenomenology) at the Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics of the University of Oxford, to work in the Particle Theory Group, supported by STFC. The post is available for two years from 01-Oct-2020.

This project will deepen our understanding of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at particle colliders. Possible avenues of investigation include, but are not restricted to, studies of parton distribution functions, central exclusive production, scattering amplitudes and Feynman integrals, higher order corrections, parton shower development, and phenomenological studies at the LHC and future colliders.

The successful candidate will report to Fabrizio Caola, Lucian Harland-Lang, Gavin Salam or Lorenzo Tancredi, the post holder is a member of a research group with responsibility for carrying out research work in QCD and collider phenomenology. Duties include managing own academic research and administrative activities, adapting existing and developing new research methodologies, presenting papers and representing the research group at external meetings and seminars.

Applicants should hold a PhD, or be close to completion in physics or a related field and ideally have a strong background in QCD and collider phenomenology. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a capacity for independent research work and should have a publication record commensurate with their career stage.

The post holder will have the opportunity to teach.

You will be required to upload a CV (including a list of publications) and a brief statement of research interests as part of your application. You will also be asked to provide details of at least three referees. Candidates should ensure that referees submit all references to PTReferences@physics.ox.ac.uk by the closing date. Documents submitted should be in PDF format and use the naming convention: APPLICANT SURNAME, FORENAME - REFEREE SURNAME,FORENAMEā€.

Please note that applicants will be considered only for the advertised recruitment. If they wish to be considered for any other similar positions advertised by the University, they must submit a separate application for those posts.

Please direct enquiries about the role to Fabrizio Caola (fabrizio.caola@physics.ox.ac.uk), Lucian Harland-Lang (lucian.harland-lang@physics.ox.ac.uk), Gavin Salam (gavin.salam@phvsics.ox.ac.uk) or Lorenzo Tancredi (lorenzo.tancredi@physics.ox.ac.uk)

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Monday 2 December 2019 can be considered.
