The Cosmology Large Angular Scale Surveyor project (CLASS) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position(s). CLASS is measuring the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) polarization at the largest angular scales, targeting the signatures of Inflationary gravitational waves and reionization. In targeting the largest angular scales over most of the sky and over a wide range of frequencies, CLASS is unique in the field of CMB polarization measurements.

The five-year CLASS survey has just begun in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile, and there will be phased deployments of additional telescopes to form the array. We seek researchers who will join the compact and dynamic CLASS team at Johns Hopkins University and take a leadership role in a combination of instrumentation, fieldwork and data analysis. The successful candidate will make transformative and unique contributions to CLASS and the field of CMB polarization measurements. As part of the JHU Department of Physics and Astronomy, the successful candidate will join a vibrant community of cosmologists and astrophysicists with strong connections to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the Space Telescope Science Institute.

Apply by November 15, 2017 for primary consideration. Later applications will be considered only as long as openings exist. Applications should be submitted at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/9734 and consist of a curriculum vitae, publication list and a description of past research and future plans. Applicants should also arrange to have three letters of reference submitted through https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/9734. Applicants should have a PhD before the anticipated start date (September 1, 2018, though earlier start dates are possible). Appointments are for one year, renewable annually based on satisfactory performance up to the duration of the CLASS survey. JHU is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer, and welcomes applications from women and members of underrepresented groups.
