The Scientific Computing Division (SCD) of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory seeks a highly qualified candidate for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to work on one of the MicroBooNE or ICARUS experiments in the Fermilab Neutrino program. The position offers opportunities to develop the hardware, software, leadership, and analysis skills necessary for long-term success in particle physics research. The successful candidate will play a major role in data analysis on one of these experiments, of their choice, and will also work on the development of highly parallel event reconstruction algorithms that will be of critical importance for future reconstruction efforts.

The position is for a period of up to three (3) years, with the potential for extension considered on a yearly basis thereafter.

Qualifications and Essential Job Functions

  • Ph.D. in experimental particle physics, nuclear physics, or a relevant discipline by the time of the appointment.
  • A strong record of recent accomplishments in experimental physics
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with the C++ programming language
  • Experience with HEP software frameworks
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Willingness to work collaboratively on a diverse team
