The Department of Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) at Temple University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position. We are interested in an individual that will further advance the educational mission of the department by enhancing the quality, depth, and breadth of the online curriculum in computer and information sciences. Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to the promotion of student engagement and implementing evidence-based instructional strategies that are effective in online instruction. Primary responsibilities include developing and teaching courses related to online communication in computer science and information technology and providing informal workshops and seminars to faculty and graduate students on developing and teaching online courses. We seek individuals with experience in online instruction technologies and approaches, and in participating in online degree programs. Preferred candidates will have a PhD in a field relevant to online teaching and learning, including communication, education, or computer and information sciences.

Recently celebrating its 50th year anniversary, CIS is one of the oldest computer science departments in the country and is experiencing tremendous growth in its research and academic programs. The department has a growing and vibrant student population, with more than 1,100 undergraduate majors and over 100 graduate students enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs. In addition to our flagship degrees in Computer Science and Information Science and Technology, we also offers several innovative programs that allow students to specialize in areas of computing, including degrees and certificates in Data Science, an interdisciplinary degree in Computer Science and Physics, and a certificate in Computer Security and Digital Forensics.
