Schmid College of Science and Technology at Chapman University seeks applicants for a tenure track, full-time position of Assistant Professor of Sensory Science, effective August 2023. Chapman University is a

The Food Science program at Chapman University is seeking applicants for a tenure track position of Assistant Professor in sensory science. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in sensory science, sensory physiology, consumer science, food science, neurophysiology, or a related field; relevant post-doctoral or industry experience; demonstrated excellence in teaching; exhibit the ability to conduct independent research and secure extramural funding. The faculty member will also have opportunities to collaborate on research initiatives with faculty such as those associated with the Brain Institute and the Economic Science Institute. sensory science, sensory physiology, consumer science, food science,
neurophysiology, or closely related field, ability to direct M.S. student
research, and evidence of strong commitment to teaching are required. All areas
of sensory science will be considered. Responsibilities: The candidate will direct
the sensory lab and collaborate with the extensive, local food industry on
sensory projects. The candidate is expected to develop a robust research
program in sensory science funded by government agencies such as the USDA and
NSF as well as industry projects. Areas of research may include sensory
perception, behavioral nutrition, consumer behavior, sensory physiology and
genetics, and flavor chemistry. The faculty member will also have opportunities
to collaborate on research initiatives with faculty such as those associated
with the Brain Institute and the Economic Science Institute. Duties include
teaching graduate courses in sensory evaluation of foods, food statistics, and
undergraduate courses in food science, mentoring students and providing service
to the College and to the University. Tenure-track faculty members are expected
to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure
consideration and are evaluated on their research/scholarly/creative activity,
