Tenure Related Position in Fundamental Biology using Zebrafish as a Model Organism

The University of Oregon’s Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track position of assistant professor to begin in fall 2018. We seek candidates using zebrafish to addressing fundamental questions in cell biology, developmental biology, immunology, neuroscience, and evolution, but we invite applications from candidates using zebrafish to investigate any fundamental biological processes. Competitive applicants will complement the existing strengths of our internationally recognized zebrafish group, have an outstanding research program, and demonstrate a clear commitment to excellence in teaching.

We are a diverse department with strengths in developmental biology, neuroscience, host-microbe interactions, genome function, and population genomics. The department has a long history of interdisciplinary research facilitated through interdepartmental research institutes in Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Ecology and Evolution, and Marine Biology. Science research at the UO is undergoing a major expansion with the establishment in 2017 of the Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact, which will substantially increase the science faculty, facilities, and focus on innovation and translation. We particularly welcome applications from scholars who are from populations historically underrepresented in the academy, and/or who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Requirements:  Ph.D. in Biology or related field in hand by time of appointment. Salary is competitive.

Candidates are asked to apply on line at by submitting a curriculum vitae including a publication list, a statement of research accomplishments and future research plans (~3 pages), a description of teaching experience and philosophy (~1 page), 1-3 selected reprints, and three letters of recommendation by October 15, 2017, or until the position has been filled.
