Counseling Psychology Position Announcement
The College of Education at Lehigh University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at
the rank of Assistant Professor in our APA-accredited Counseling Psychology program, effective August
2024. At minimum, candidates must have an earned doctorate in Counseling Psychology (or a closely
related specialty) by the date of employment from a program that is rooted in a scientist-practitioner or
scientist-practitioner-advocate training model and must be licensed (or license-eligible) as a psychologist
in Pennsylvania.
The successful candidate will contribute to the program’s mission in research (with a focus on Latinx
mental health), teaching (in our programs for counseling psychology, mental health counseling, school
counseling, and international school counseling, as well as our new certificate in the mental health of
Latin Americans in the United States), and advising/mentoring of students. The successful candidate will
have scholarly interests that fit the College’s mission of offering a multicultural and global education to
graduate students and will demonstrate potential for a strong publication record and external funding. The
successful candidate will have interest in teaching courses in face-to-face and online modalities based on
program needs (ex: multicultural issues and social justice, vocational psychology, assessment, theories of
counseling, school counseling) and the ability to contribute to academic offerings for the certificate in the
mental health of Latin Americans in the United States. The successful candidate will mentor and advise
master’s and doctoral students. The successful candidate will show evidence of cultural competence
through collaborating with communities of the Global Majority by way of research, teaching, and/or
clinical practice.
The Counseling Psychology Program, housed in the College of Education, offers a doctorate in
Counseling Psychology as well as master’s degrees in Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and
International School Counseling. Signature areas of the Counseling Psychology program include
multicultural issues and social justice, counseling process/outcomes and supervision, international
counseling, school counseling, vocational counseling, early childhood, and older adults. The Program
faculty have established strong research and service partnerships in the Lehigh Valley, including our
Community Voices Clinic. Additional information about the Counseling Psychology program is available
