The successful candidate will be expected to establish an active research program in computational physiology and/or computational neuroscience, leading to extramural funding and high-quality publications. The successful candidate will also participate in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, which may include the development and teaching of courses aligned with the curriculum goals of the Department. In addition, the successful candidate will engage in the mentoring of students in research, outreach, and professional development. As UConn and the Department are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the successful candidate will also broaden participation and provide an inclusive environment for members of underrepresented groups, and to meet the needs of diverse populations through their research, teaching, mentoring, and/or public engagement. We especially encourage applications from diverse groups and backgrounds underrepresented in STEM.

The Department of Physiology and Neurobiology at UConn (https://pnb.uconn.edu/) is a vibrant, collaborative, and inclusive environment, that pursues excellence and innovation in both biomedical research and teaching. The Department is further committed to expanding research excellence in the field of computational physiology and/or computational neuroscience in collaboration with the Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Psychological Sciences, and Statistics in Storrs as well as with UConn Health, and therefore the successful candidate will have ample opportunity for research collaboration with other departments on campus and at UConn Health. As Connecticut’s flagship public university, UConn is in a transformational period of growth supported by the $1.7B Next Generation Connecticut (http://nextgenct.uconn.edu/) and the $1B Bioscience Connecticut (http://biosciencect.uchc.edu/) investments. As part of these initiatives, UConn has hired more than 450 new faculty at all ranks during the past six years. We are pleased to continue these investments by inviting applications for this tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology and Neurobiology. The successful candidate will receive a competitive start-up package to establish an independent computational research program.
