The Nano Fabrication Facility (Nano Fab) at ASRC seeks a full-time Cleanroom Process Engineer. This position will assist with processes related to a variety of Micro and Nano fabrication process equipment including tools for e-beam and photolithography, etching, deposition, wet chemical processing, metrology, and back-end processing. The Cleanroom Process Engineer will mentor and train students/researchers, facilitating research projects by suggesting process improvements, troubleshooting tool problems, communicating with vendors, writing internal documentation for tools and processes, and establishing and maintaining baseline facility processes.

Reporting to the Nanoscience Facilities Director, the Cleanroom Process Engineer duties include but are not limited to:

- Acts as a technical and user liaison to Nano Fab Facility users, and assists with scheduling; plans, designs, and coordinates interdisciplinary information and research planning sessions; - Assists Nanoscience Facilities Director and other staff with the development and enforcing of safety and operational protocols. - Assists with process recipe database upkeep; process related trouble-shooting and developing new processes; - Maintains detailed reports related to system status, instrument usage, tool performance, process performance, and lab procedures; - Assists with maintenance of chemical inventory, specialty gases, supplies; safety records; and preparation and dissemination of communications with facility users; - Monitors and records instrument calibration and qualifies processes and equipment; - Prepares, develops, and maintains standard operating procedure documentation and safety protocols for instrument operation and processes used within the Nano Fab Facility; - Prepares, maintains, and performs preventative maintenance, and responsible for instrument monitoring records; - Assists with training and qualifying users on lab procedures, safety, processes, and equipment operation procedures to undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral and other researchers, faculty members, and external users. - Serves as a expert and resource to faculty and staff on administering and planning research projects; - Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs defective equipment and various tools in the Nano Fab Facility as well as with the modification, upgrade, and development of tools; - Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

A preferred candidate should have: - Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering with four years of experience in Micro and/or Nanofabrication. - A Master’s degree can be substituted for two years of experience, provided research is completed in Micro and/or Nanofabrication. - Ability to work in cleanroom, chemical, and measurement laboratory environments. Will work around compressed gases, acids, solvents, vacuum pump oils, and other chemicals. - Meticulous recordkeeping and data analysis and interpretation abilities. - Excellent organizational and planning skills. - Strong oral and written communication skills. - Ability to work in a collaborative manner. - Ability to assist in identifying any challenges or barriers. - Experience in laboratory settings and a multiuser environment. - Experience working in Micro and/or Nanofabrication at an academic or industrial research laboratory. - Experience in process development and troubleshooting; data analysis, CAD software, and device design experience. - Demonstrated aptitude for operating, calibrating, and repairing complex equipment. - Ability to execute complex processes, carefully following written procedures with great attention to detail. - Ability to safely work with hazardous materials. - Familiarity with broad range of Micro and/or Nanofabrication and semiconductor processing equipment. - Hands on experience in one or more process areas, including thin-film deposition, wet and dry etching, photolithography and e-beam lithography. - Organizes and manages the requirements of existing funded projects and prepares preliminary materials for grant submission

- Collects information for, and assists in preparing reports, manuscripts for publication, newsletters, web sites, and other communications

- Plans, designs and coordinates interdisciplinary information and research planning sessions and professional development activities for faculty and staff

- May oversee one or more facilities, participating in budgeting, planning, and monitoring, and assuring availability of needed tools and equipment

- Serves as a consultant and resource to faculty and staff on planning and administering research projects

- Performs related activities as assigned.
