Position Function
A postdoctoral position is available to study the genetics and genomics of plant grafting in Dr. Margaret Frank’s Lab at Cornell University. Plant grafting has been used for over two millennia to improve plant performance, enhance abiotic and biotic stress tolerance, and optimize plant architecture. The Frank lab investigates the mechanisms of local- and long-distance communication that underlie these agriculturally beneficial, grafting-induced traits.

Requirements
PhD in Plant Biology or related discipline. Prior experience with plant grafting is not required. The Postdoctoral Scholar will be responsible for designing independent, hypothesis-driven as well as exploratory “big data” projects that deepen our understanding of graft biology. The candidate is expected to contribute to a productive group setting and demonstrate the capacity to take on challenging questions, acquire new research skills, and follow through with proposed projects. A prior record, demonstrating the ability to coordinate collaborative research is highly desirable. The Postdoctoral Scholar is expected to present their results through the preparation and publication of peer-reviewed manuscripts and by presenting at local and internationally-recognized conferences. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Plant Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Comparative Genomics, or a related field.  The Frank Lab is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive research environment.
