The Wheelock College of Education & Human Development at Boston University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Special Education within our Teaching & Learning department. We strongly believe that the cultural and social diversity of faculty, staff, and students is important to maintaining superior academic and research programs and building strong community. As such, we are seeking a faculty member who shares BU Wheelock’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion; the preparation of high-quality special education professionals; and the advancement of research.

 

BU Wheelock is seeking a faculty member to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Special Education; provide field-based supervision of students in their clinical practicum placements; and serve as a coordinator for placement of students in area schools for pre-practicum and practicum experiences, and advise undergraduate and graduate level students; Additional service to the program, college, and university, such as serving on committees, is expected.

 

Required Qualifications:

·       Doctorate in Special Education or related field.

·       Minimum three years relevant teaching experience in K-12.

·       Demonstrated excellence in teaching and advising at the university level.

·       Expertise in instruction of students with disabilities, and knowledge of Special Education policies and evidence-based practices.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Experience supervising teaching candidates in the field.

 

The Lecturer position begins July 1, 2022, on a three-year contract, with potential for renewal and promotion to senior lecturer. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
