Assistant Professor of Physics

The Department of Physics at Baylor University invites applications for a tenure-track position in experimental high energy physics at the assistant professor level beginning in August 2019. Outstanding candidates with an earned doctorate in physics are invited to apply.


The experimental high energy physics group at Baylor, led by Profs. Dittmann and Hatakeyama, actively participates in the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The group currently carries a major role in the operation and upgrade of the hadron calorimeter, and is actively involved in the upgrade of the endcap calorimeter for the high luminosity LHC. The group is engaged in searches for supersymmetry and other new phenomena, and vigorously pursues the use of machine learning techniques for data analysis activities. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate effectively with the experimental high energy physics group at Baylor and develop an independent, internationally recognized research program, as well as to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in our physics program, mentor/teach doctoral students, and serve the university and broader physics community.
