Farm Business Management Specialist

Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) provides the educational outreach functions for Cornell University’s role as New York State’s Land Grant University. The Central New York Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Team was formed to provide high-quality educational programs and applied research efforts that address the needs of dairy, livestock, and field crop producers within this region. What You Will Do As the Farm Business Management Specialist, you will provide leadership for planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that address producer identified needs and opportunities with an emphasis on business analysis for commercial dairy and livestock producers. These focus areas of these programs will include business management and financial analysis, such as record-keeping and business analysis, economic of production, financial management, risk management, and business planning. You will work with farms to analyze management strategies to expand production and profitability. Additionally, you will be responsible for the day-to-day program operations and fiscal accountability for the Central New York Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Program. You will provide supervision, oversight, and guidance to staff. Participate with the Assistant Director in the development and management of the program budget. Other responsibilities include:
This position is full-time and will be located in Central New York. This is a three-year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance. What We Need We are looking for a dynamic individual that can lead a team
while excelling at building relationships with multiple stakeholders to
identify and address industry needs. We need someone who appreciates the agricultural
industry in New York State and understands the importance of farm business
management. In this role, you will work with producers across several counties in
Central New York and contribute to multiple teams while developing a unique and
