The Department of Computer Science at Illinois Institute of Technology invites applications for multiple tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at all ranks, appointments to start in Fall 2022.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related field at the start of the appointment and should have demonstrated research accomplishment, a record of attracting external research funding where appropriate to their rank, and a commitment to teaching. We seek candidates in all areas of computer science.

The Department of Computer Science in Illinois Institute of Technology’s College of Computing offers bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Artificial Intelligence, a master’s degree in Cybersecurity, and interdisciplinary master’s degrees in Data Science and in Computational Decision Science and Operations Research. It boasts a wide range of funded research activity, as well as multiple externally funded research faculty positions.

The department is in a significant growth phase as part of the university’s strategic plan, seeking to ambitiously grow its faculty and its impact during the coming years. The vision for the future of the department is to transform all disciplines by infusing them with computational thinking and methods. We are developing novel cross-disciplinary initiatives in areas such as human-computer interaction, fair and trustworthy computing, and digital manufacturing and robotics, which will involve expanding efforts in artificial intelligence, systems, cybersecurity, programming languages, theory, and more. Fundamental to this vision are the department’s growing collaborations with other disciplines, such as with the university’s pioneering Institute of Design, College of Architecture, Armour College of Engineering, and Chicago-Kent College of Law. It is also launching diverse new interdisciplinary programs as part of the university’s new College of Computing, and has strong growing partnerships with Chicago’s burgeoning tech community.
