Assistant Director of the Program for Research on Youth
Development and Engagement (PRYDE) in
the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research in the College of Human
Ecology at Cornell University
The Program for Research on Youth Development and Engagement (PRYDE) is an innovative hub for research-practice partnerships working to improve the lives of youth. PRYDE features four key initiatives: supporting youth development researchers in conducting translational projects, building and maintaining mutually-beneficial relationships with practitioners across New York State, training Cornell students in translational research, and involving youth in research and evidence-based programs. The Assistant Director (rank: Research Associate) will work with the PRYDE Co-Directors to oversee program operation, including monitoring of research projects, student engagement, events, and outreach. In addition, the Assistant Director will serve as the liaison between PRYDE and community partners, building capacity for campus-community collaboration and translational research on youth development. Responsibilities include: Support PRYDE co-Directors in determining priority areas and activities; Write grants and progress reports; Develop, evaluate, and utilize systems for campus-community collaboration within PRYDE; Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from youth development program participants; Support network of county CCE 4-H Educators and Cornell faculty focused on youth development; Teach undergraduate seminars on translational research; Maintain records of PRYDE activities and supervise public relations activities; Assist with other PRYDE activities as assigned by Co-Directors. Qualifications: Ph.D.
in developmental psychology or a related field, with 5 or more years of
experience managing youth programs and successful grant-writing experience.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with multiple
stakeholders (practitioner affiliates, staff, faculty, and students). Must be
able to collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, as well as
communicate findings to academic and practitioner partners. Demonstrates a
strong service orientation. Expert skill in time management and organization.
Openness to emerging opportunities with the ability to manage multiple tasks
and set priorities. Work should demonstrate an attention to detail and ability
to meet deadlines. Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment in
interactions and with sensitive and confidential information. Strong computer
skills. Ability to write effectively, persuasively, and accurately for academic
and practitioner audiences. Must be open to working occasional nights/weekends.
