The topological quantum matter group at the University of Notre Dame is looking to hire a postdoctoral associate starting Fall of 2019. The researcher is expected to carry out experimental magnetooptical and transport measurements at strong magnetic fields on quantum (topological and/or 2D) materials. The research will include work on high mobility topological IV-VI materials that are synthesized in house and 2D heterostructure assembly and characterization. Involvement in material growth is also possible, but not required. Applicants should have solid prior experience in at least two of the following:
  • Electrical transport at low temperature and strong magnetic field
  • Magnetooptics (prefer THz and/or IR)
  • Nanofabrication and device processing
  • Experience in the physics of topological matter or 2D materials
  • Experience in IV-VI, II-VI or III-V semiconductors is desirable but not required
Good communication skills are required, both in oral and written English. A September 2019 start date is desired but can be negotiated. Employment is full time for 2 years with a possible extension for 1 additional year. Interested applicants are asked to submit a CV, a publications list and a 1 page summary of research interest.
