Postdoctoral Associate in Atmospheric Science Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences Cornell University Ithaca, New York Who We Are Cornell's Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences engages in world-class research, and outstanding teaching, service and outreach. Cornell earth and atmospheric scientists are engaged around the world as international leaders in a wide range of disciplines. Professor Sara C. Pryor and her group use a combination of field measurements, big data analytics and high-fidelity numerical models to address research questions in atmospheric science and energy science. She is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Meteorological Society. What You Will Do We are looking for a Postdoctoral Associate to join a vibrant research team focused on performing and analyzing high-resolution simulations with the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF). You will participate in research applying WRF to address research questions in the realms of climate dynamics and wind energy applications. The job duties include: • Compiling WRF-SWAN-ROMS model chain and WRF on various computing platforms. • Conducting and evaluating numerical downscaling simulations using WRF. • Develop publication-quality research manuscripts. • Data archiving using best-practice data provenance procedures. What We Need • Ph.D. in atmospheric science, engineering, or related subject. • Experience with high-performance computing environments and the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF) is required. • Familiarity with coupling WRF to ocean models and with wind energy applications is highly desirable. This is a full-time position and will be located in Ithaca, New York. This is a one-year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance.
