Tenure-Track faculty position in the area of Structural Materials and Metallurgy

Department of Materials Science and Engineering

Description:  The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University ( is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Structural Materials and Metallurgy. Appointment is at the rank of Assistant Professor. The department seeks to maintain its traditional strength in metallurgy by adding synergistic expertise in the areas of advanced material manufacturing processes (specifically laser-based, electron beam, and thermomechanical) and characterization of damage evolution for ultra-light-weight materials. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain active sponsored research programs, teach core undergraduate and/or graduate courses. 

The anticipated start date for this position is August 2020.  Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Qualifications:  A doctoral degree in Materials Science and Engineering or similar field(s). Research leadership is expected including the ability to attract significant federal funding and industrial partnerships to sustain a vibrant research program. Additionally, the candidate should have evidence of working cooperatively and collegially with diverse groups to advance high impact research and teaching programs.
