Position Description: INSTRUCTOR (I2): The Department of Psychology, College of Social Sciences, University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (Honolulu, Hawai’i) invites applicants for the position of Instructor. This is a non-tenure track, full-time, 9-month, faculty appointment, position number 82198, to begin August 1, 2022, subject to position clearance and availability of funds.

Duties: Duties include teaching 12-credits per semester of Introductory Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Statistical Techniques in Psychology, and additional courses serving departmental needs, participate in curriculum development, provide service to the department, College, and University, and other duties as assigned by the Department Chair. 

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have (1) an M.A. in Psychology (or closely related discipline), (2) experience teaching Psychology at a university level, (3) demonstrated aptitude for course instruction at the university level, (4) advanced pedagogical knowledge for both online and in-person instruction, (5) demonstrated strong communication and organizational skills, and (6) demonstrated ability to direct graduate teaching and learning assistants. 

Desirable Qualifications: The ideal candidate will also have (1) a Ph.D. in Psychology (or closely related discipline), (2) a proven track record of effective course instruction in lower and upper-division psychology courses at the university level, (3) experience successfully teaching large lecture courses with lab sections, (4) commitment to undergraduate education, (5) experience teaching diverse student populations, and (6) interest in advancing instructional pedagogy in the psychological sciences in both online and in-person formats. Given the multicultural and diverse context of UHM, we also seek candidates with a demonstrated interest in, and the potential to contribute to, diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Salary range: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
