ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY – BEHAVIORAL NEUROSCIENCE

Assistant Professor in Behavioral Neuroscience, position number 82537, University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Social Sciences, Department of Psychology, permanent, general funds, full-time, 9 month, tenure track appointment, to begin August 1, 2018, subject to position clearance and availability of funds. The Department of Psychology (http://www.psychology.hawaii.edu/) seeks a faculty colleague who will add to the department’s strengths in behavioral neuroscience. While the general area of research is the biological bases of behavior, priority consideration will be given to candidates whose research is focused on topics in development, affect, psychopharmacology, psychopathology, or cognition.

Duties: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in behavioral neuroscience and specialty area; periodically contribute to the department’s teaching of undergraduate statistics and/or research methods; supervise, mentor and advise MA and PhD students; actively seek extramural funding; publish scholarly, peer-reviewed research in area of expertise; provide service to the department, university, and community. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

1. Ph.D. in Psychology or in Neuroscience (with significant coursework in psychology) from a college or university of recognized standing. 2. Post-doctoral experience in related area. 3. Significant research accomplishment (publications, grants) commensurate with time in the field. 4. Expertise needed to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in behavioral neuroscience. 5. Ability to teach undergraduate statistics and/or research methods. 6. Ability to interact with faculty, staff, and students in a productive and professional manner.

Desirable qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in behavioral neuroscience or related area.

Salary range: Commensurate with training and experience.
