The Enrico Fermi Institute of The University of Chicago welcomes applications for an open position as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the field of dark matter direct search.
The successful applicant is expected to play a leading role in the context of XENONnT, including involvement in • operations of the XENONnT detector, now deployed at Gran Sasso National Laboratory; • analysis of XENONnT data; • other lab activities related to the development of the xenon technology.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in data analysis, simulation, and instrumentation in particle/nuclear physics.

The Enrico Fermi Institute is an interdisciplinary research unit within the Division of Physical Sciences of the University of Chicago. The Institute's activities include the following: string theory and theoretical high-energy physics, experimental high-energy physics, theoretical astrophysics and cosmology, experimental particle astrophysics, infrared and optical astronomy, cosmic microwave background observations, general relativity and gravitational waves, and cosmochemistry.
There are no teaching responsibilities associated with this position. A Ph.D. in physics at the time the appointment starts is required. Note that appointment as a postdoctoral scholar is restricted to those less than seven years beyond the attainment of a Ph.D. Applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests, and contact information for three reference letter writers. Review of applications will begin on November 15, 2021 and continue until the position is filled. Priority will be given to those applicants who will have received the Ph.D. by Spring of 2022.
