The School of Computing and Informatics ( at UL Lafayette currently has 32 faculty members with specialties in all major branches of computer science, computer engineering, and information systems. The School offers B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Informatics respectively; M.S. degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Informatics; and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, in the Center of Advanced Computer Studies (CACS). CACS is the research arm of the School, and is one of the best-ranked research programs in the US. We are recruiting up-to-2 tenured Associate/Full Professors, 3 tenure-track Assistant Professors, and 1 Senior Systems Administrator this year.

Located midway between New Orleans and Houston, Lafayette is the heart of Louisiana's Acadian-Creole region. The city of over 122,000 is part of the Lafayette-Acadiana area with a total population of 550,000, and is one of Louisiana's fastest-growing metropolitan. Lafayette serves as the base of Louisiana's offshore oil industry, as well as the financial, retail, and medical center for south-Central Louisiana.

For the Senior Systems Administrator position, we seek candidates with a strong commitment to systems support for research, teaching and service. The successful candidate should have experience in operating systems (OS) with different platforms (Windows, Unix/Linux, Mac), basic coding skills, and general office support skills.


The successful applicant must have a BS in Computer Science or related field, or a minimum of 5 years of professional working experience. Successful candidates must be committed to working effectively with diverse faculty and student populations.

  • General office support skills: print/copy/fax maintenance, basic hardware troubleshooting
  • General office support skills: organizational skills, inventory, recordkeeping
  • Software development: create databases and web front ends for School needs
  • Must possess good critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Serve as first level of support for CMIX faculty, staff and students
    • Troubleshooting PCs, battery backups, printers, computer hardware (electronics experience a plus)
    • Keep database of inventory, maintenance contracts and warranties/support of equipment
    • Must have solid knowledge of TCP/IP and basic troubleshooting of networks.
    • Aid in setting up labs, moving equipment, and aiding faculty and staff with lab/lecture room use
  • Install, clone and repair Windows, Mac, Unix and Linux-based systems.
  • Install and keep up to date software in the School’s instructional and research labs.
  • Train CMIX students, faculty and staff on using new software when needed.
