Open-Rank Teaching Faculty Appointment(s) in Computer Science

The Computer Science Department at Brandeis University invites applications for a full-time teaching faculty position. Faculty rank is open, and will depend on experience and qualifications; the position is outside the tenure structure and starts in the Spring or Fall 2024, pending budgetary approval. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The position will have an initial appointment of up to three years and the potential for renewal.

We seek candidates to teach a wide range of core computer science courses, as well as upper-level and graduate electives depending on their expertise and department needs. We are particularly interested in candidates with interest to teach algorithms, theory of computation, programming languages, computer networks and security as well as interested in teaching electives related to those areas of computer science. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and is expected to participate fully in the academic life of the department, including advising, participating in faculty meetings, supporting undergraduate and graduate research and other activities relevant to our teaching and research mission of Brandeis.

A Ph.D. is preferred but not required. Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching computer science at the university level. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.

The Computer Science department has 15 tenure-line and 4 full-time contract faculty members with diverse research and teaching interests. Besides offering bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, the department houses the Linguistics program and offers a vibrant nationally recognized master’s program in Computational Linguistics. Full-time OTS faculty participate fully in the department, attending faculty meetings and being able to chair important committees, and Brandeis provides a paid semester leave program for eligible full-time faculty.
