Position Description
Post-doctoral position on “Modelling of Gamma-Ray Burst high energy emission and comparison with data”. The International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA, Trieste, Italy) solicits expressions of interest for a post-doc position focused on the modelling and interpretation of high energy emission of Gamma-Ray Bursts and comparisons with observations, funded by the Italian MUR (Ministry of University and Research, Grant PRIN 2022). The position is for 2 years, extendable to a third year (depending on funding availability and performance). It will start as soon as possible (late 2023-beginning of 2024). The successful candidate is expected to work in collaboration with Prof. Annalisa Celotti (SISSA) and Prof. Francesco Longo (Univ. of Trieste) and with the other members of the research team. Candidates should have a PhD in astrophysics or physics. The project is focused on GRBs, but of course any expertise in non-thermal radiative emission and particle acceleration processes as well as high energy observations of transient sources will be valuable. SISSA (www.sissa.it) is a leading research and training institution (PhD School). The Physics Area at SISSA has connections with the several research Institutes in Trieste (ICTP, INFN, INAF, IFPU..). The campus is in a green area on the hills close to Trieste. SISSA offers to its community top tier research facilities (e.g. High Performance Computing facilities) and services (e.g. canteen and kindergarten services located on site, a gym…). The expressions of interest should be received no later than September 30th, 2023 for full consideration, but the search will remain open until the position is filled. They should include: 1) Curriculum Vitae; 2) Publication list; 3) A (short) research summary; 4) Two letters of reference (to be also submitted at this website). For any enquiry, you can contact Annalisa Celotti (celotti[at]sissa.it). A second post-doc position on the same project will be soon available at the Observatory of Brera (in Merate, Italy) to work with Drs. Lara Nava, Giancarlo Ghirlanda and Om Salafia. For any enquiry regarding this position, please contact Lara Nava (lara.nava[at]inaf.it).Application Materials Required:
Submit the following items online at this website to complete your application:
- Curriculum Vitae
