The Department of Computer Science at Boston College invites applications for a postdoctoral position, under the supervision of Prof. José Bento, in the following areas:

* signal processing and control theory

* machine learning, statistics, graphical models, information theory

* parallel and distributed algorithms/optimization, proximal algorithms, convex and non-convex optimization

* network theory and graph matching

* deep learning, robustness in machine learning

- Funding available up to 3 years. - Start and end dates flexible. - Compensation includes a competitive salary and a complete benefits plan.

The candidate will have the freedom to shape his/her project. The candidate is expected to publish his/her work at top venues (see example venues below) and supervise subprojects led by both doctoral and undergraduate students. Teaching is not required, unless requested by the candidate. Current and past projects can be found at OR

Required qualifications:

* Ph.D. degree

* Published research or advanced coursework in at least one of the following: mathematics, statistics, probability, optimization, machine learning, and signal processing

Highly recommended but not required:

* Previous publications in top conferences in ML, AI, optimization, statistics, information theory, and related fields ( and/or in top bioinformatics and computational biology journals, and related fields (
