Instructor in Mandarin Chinese Durham, North Carolina

The Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina invites applications for one full-time Instructor in Mandarin Chinese language beginning August 1, 2023. The contract for the position is one academic year (2023-2024) with possible renewal, contingent upon the continued needs of the department. The teaching load is five to six courses a year. Candidates must at least have an M.A. in Chinese Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Educational Psychology, Chinese Studies, or a related field with native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English. Experience in teaching undergraduates in North America and the ability to teach all levels of Chinese language courses are required. Adaptability with instructional technologies, experience with team-teaching, and demonstration of active participation in the professional field are highly desirable.
