T. D. Lee Postdoctoral Research Fellowship 

The Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI) in Shanghai, China invites applications for three T. D. Lee postdoctoral research fellow positions in the area of experimental (astro)particle physics. We welcome highly motivated applicants who have obtained a Ph.D. degree or are expected to receive one prior to starting the position in nuclear/particle/astroparticle physics, or related fields. The initial appointment is for 2 years with possible renewal for a third year. TDLI offers competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and subsidized housing options through Shanghai Jiao Tong University. 

The successful candidates can choose to work on the following three areas: 
1) Collider physics, with a focus on ATLAS, BES-III, future collider and detector R&D. Prior hardware experience with muon spectrometer, noble liquid/gas detectors, liquid scintillator detectors, high granularity calorimeters will be advantageous. For LHC experiment applicants, there are good opportunities to be based at CERN if mutual agreements can be reached. 

2) Deep underground physics (dark matter and neutrinoless double-beta decay experiment), on which the successful candidates will participate in the PandaX experiment, located in the China Jinping Underground Laboratory, utilizing xenon time projection chamber. The appointee is expected to play a key role in the construction and commissioning of the next phase of PandaX detector. 

3) MeV to PeV neutrino astronomy utilizing the IceCube Neutrino Observatory at the South Pole and the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) in Guangdong, China. The appointee is expected to work on IceCube data analyses including, but not limited to, astrophysical tau neutrino identification and neutrino source searches, and JUNO multi-messenger physics such as the search for the diffuse supernova neutrino background signal. 

TDLI (http://tdli.sjtu.edu.cn/web/yjxy/5130001.htm ) is a newly established prestigious national research institute in China, initiated by Prof. Tsung-Dao Lee (Nobel Laureate 1957) and directly approved by China’s Central Government. The current and founding director of TDLI is Prof. Frank Wilczek (Nobel Laureate 2004). TDLI supports world-class fundamental physics research in (astro)particle physics, astrophysics/astronomy and quantum physics.
