Position Description: |
Duke Kunshan University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Lecturer position in Chinese language in its Language and Culture Center. DKU offers an innovative, integrated and interdisciplinary liberal arts undergraduate program leading to both Duke and DKU degrees, and the Language and Culture Center provides Chinese language courses at all levels to international students in this program. The successful candidate for this position will teach beginning level Chinese language courses, online and probably also face-to-face. The contract starts in July 2021. Candidates must have a graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g. Chinese, applied linguistics, East Asian languages and cultures), and university-level Chinese language teaching experience. In addition to mastery of spoken and written Chinese, candidates must also have strong English skills. Ability to speak and coach learners of other languages (e.g. Japanese, Korean, Spanish) or other varieties of Chinese (e.g. Shanghainese, Suzhounese, Cantonese) is also an asset.
