Position Description: |
Duke Kunshan University invites applications for EAP faculty positions in the Language and Culture Center (LCC). DKU offers an innovative and interdisciplinary undergraduate liberal arts program leading to both Duke and DKU degrees, and in this program LCC faculty teach EAP courses that emphasize academic writing; these are content-based courses designed around language and culture issues. LCC faculty also teach written and oral communication skills courses for DKU graduate programs. Positions begin in July 2022. This
is an open rank search with multiple positions. v Candidates for non-tenure track positions (Instructor,
Lecturer, and Senior Lecturer) must have a graduate degree in
a relevant
field such as language teaching/applied linguistics, teaching multilingual
learners, L2 writing, composition/rhetoric, or education. They should also have
experience teaching languages and/or writing, strong oral and written communication
skills, and personal experience with and commitment to language learning.
Preference will be given to candidates who can coach learners of additional
languages (e.g. Spanish, French, Japanese, German); background in areas such as
intercultural communication, intercultural rhetoric, Writing Across Curriculum,
and science writing is also an asset. v Candidates for tenure track positions (Assistant
Professor) should, in addition to the qualifications above, have a doctorate in
a relevant field and a record of scholarship. They should also show promise of being
able to produce the level and quality of published research necessary for success
in tenure review. In cover letters applicants should state whether they are applying for tenure track positions, non-tenure track positions, or both. Applicants should provide a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, and a statement on teaching and – if appropriate – research; applicants should also arrange to have three letters of reference submitted.
