Jiaming Xu’s research group in the Fuqua School of Business at Duke will have openings for one postdoc starting July 1, 2019.  Our main areas of interest now are in high-dimensional inference in networks, including but not limited to community detection in networks, noisy graph isomorphism, and noisy matrix/tensor factorization. The postdoc will carry out theoretical analyses, software implementations, and numerical experiments on algorithms for inference, including message-passing, convex relaxations, spectral, and Monte Carlo algorithms.  

We are interested in outstanding candidates in all areas of data sciences including theoretical statistics, machine learning, optimization, signal processing, computer science, applied mathematics, and statistical physics. Appointments will be for one year, with a possibility for an extension for one additional year, contingent upon the availability of funding. Salary is $55,000 plus benefits and travel resources.

Successful candidates must have completed requirements for a Ph.D. degree by June 2019 . The post-doctoral fellowship is exclusively for recent Ph.D. graduates. Eligible candidates need not have previously held a faculty or postdoctoral position. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a brief summary of past and current research. Candidates should include the names and contact information for three individuals who would be willing to provide letters of recommendation.
