The University of Freiburg (Germany) offers a research position for three years in Theoretical Particle Physics with the possibility of an extension for another three years. The preferred starting date is October 2019. The position will be paid at the level of an "Akademische Raetin/Rat auf Zeit", A13Z in the German civil servant system.

The position will be associated to the particle theory groups of S.Dittmaier or H.Ita. Applicants should exhibit experience in the fields of QCD and electroweak physics, Higgs physics, the calculation of radiative corrections, and/or physics beyond the Standard Model. Experience with modern computational methods in perturbative QFT will be beneficial.

At present, the particle groups at the Freiburg University consist of the theory groups of S.Dittmaier (many electroweak interactions), H.Ita (mainly strong interaction) and J.J.van der Bij (manly physics beyond the Standard Model), and the experimental ATLAS groups of B. Heinemann, G. Herten, K. Jakobs, and M. Schumacher as well as the astroparticle physics group of M. Schumann.

The theoretical and experimental groups are collaborating in research projects as well as a common graduate school. Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with local PhD students and postdocs as well as to take advantage of the ample expertise in particle physics at the department. Applicants must hold a PhD degree and previous postdoc experience.

Applications should be submitted preferably before 30 November 2018. Late applications will be considered until the position is filled.

Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and a short research statement, as well as arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be sent. Only online applications will be accepted.
