Research Data Associate - Research Associate - Yang-Tan Institute

Position is located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University, or can be located remotely within New York State. The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a half-time (50%) Research Data Associate - Research Associate positions in the K. Lisa Yang and Hock E. Tan Institute on Employment and Disability in the Extension/Outreach Division. The position of Research Associate within the Yang-Tan Institute (YTI) is responsible for independently designing, developing and delivering research and related services that are closely aligned with the strategic mission and core values of YTI and the ILR School. The Research Associate will be responsible for contributing to writing of research reports and scholarly publications for submission to peer-reviewed journals.

The position’s primary focus will be as a Research Data Associate for the NYS Education Department’s Special Education Technical Assistance Partnership for Data (Data TAP), a professional development initiative. The Data TAP will work with other Technical Assistance Partnerships to support 12 Regional Partnership Centers as well as Family and Community Engagement Centers (FACE, early childhood and school age).

Research Associate is a half-time, non-tenure track, academic term position with up to a three-year initial appointment. The position may be re-appointed on the basis of recommendations by the appropriate Associate Director of Research, Executive Director, Director and Associate Dean as well as available funding and work.

Required Qualifications: •PhD degree in evaluation, special education, general education, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, disability studies, adult education, or other related field. •Minimum of one year of experience providing professional development and/or technical assistance. •Strong written and oral communication skills and experience teaching adult learners. •Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative environments and to contribute to the innovation and outcome success of a team. •Relevant professional leadership and network development at the state and regional level. •Grant writing experience. •Frequent travel may be required, at least monthly.

Preferred Qualifications: •Two to four years of experience with New York State educational networks. •Two or more years of experience providing professional development and/or technical assistance to practitioners in special education or related field. •Demonstrated writing ability and scholarly record in the thematic content area (articles in peer-reviewed journals, articles in trade publications, research and project reports, informational brochures, policy briefs, etc.). •Professional credentials in disciplinary area, such as appropriate state and national licensure, certifications, etc. •Three or more years of experience working in K-12 special education or general education. •Experience serving as Principal Investigator on a grant.
